Friends of London Waterkeeper: Terms & Conditions

On applying to become a Friend of London Waterkeeper scheme you are automatically agreeing to the scheme (“Friends Scheme”) terms and conditions. Any changes to the terms and conditions will be communicated to participants of the Friends Scheme.

The London Waterkeeper Charity is referred to as ‘London Waterkeeper’, ‘We’, or ‘Us’. Friends and applications are referred to as ‘Friend/s’, ‘Participant’, ‘You’, or ‘Your’.

  1. Eligibility‍ ‍

The Friends of London Waterkeeper Scheme is eligible to all persons over the age of 18.

London Waterkeeper may decline an application to the Friends Scheme if (i) the application is incomplete, or (ii) we consider, acting reasonably, it is in the charity’s interest to do so.

The commencement of accepted applicants begins upon receiving confirmation from London Waterkeeper by email.

2. Fees and Payments

The Friends Scheme fees are made available on the London Waterkeeper website.

The Friends Scheme fees may change at any time during the operation of the scheme. London Waterkeeper will communicate any fee changes to its Friends in good time no later than 30 days before the fee change is to become effective.

Fees are treated as charitable donations and therefore are not refundable.

Fees are to be paid monthly to London Waterkeeper and will be collected automatically. The collection of fees will cease upon the terminating participation in the Friends Scheme, either at the request of the participant or London Waterkeeper.

Fee payments are collected through a third-party platform operated by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). The use of the CAF platform (including where accessed through the London Waterkeeper website) by you to set up the fee payment for the Friends Scheme is subject CAF’s terms and conditions and any associated terms of use (including the processing and reclaim of Gift Aid), which can be accessed here.

3. Benefits

As a Friend of London Waterkeeper, you will be entitled to receive the following benefits as part of your Friends package:

  • Friends of London Waterkeeper newsletters

  • Invitation to London Waterkeeper and partner events

London Waterkeeper reserves the right to change the benefits that apply to the Friends Scheme. Where possible, any changes to the scheme benefits will be communicated to Friends of the scheme.

You must notify London Waterkeeper of any change to your contact details as soon as possible. London Waterkeeper will not be responsible for any losses, including any loss of benefits, that may result from your failure to notify us of changes to your contact information.

4. Holder Rights

As a Friend of London Waterkeeper, you will not have any voting rights in relation to any of the charity’s activities or administration.

As a Friend of London Waterkeeper, you will not have a right to attend the London Waterkeeper Annual General Meeting.

5. Cancellations and Terminations

You can request to cancel your participation as a Friend of London Waterkeeper at any point. To cancel, you must contact London Waterkeeper using the contact information provided in section 9.

London Waterkeeper reserves the right to terminate a of Friend of the scheme where it is determined to be in the best interest of the charity. London Waterkeeper is not required to provide a reason or notice for the termination.

London Waterkeeper may terminate you from the Friends Scheme for the following reasons:

  • You are in breach of the terms and conditions.

  • London Waterkeeper has not received fees from you.

  • You are not acting in the interest of London Waterkeeper, or in a manner that is consistent with the objectives of the charity.

6. Data Protection and Privacy

London Waterkeeper is required to process certain personal information in relation to the maintenance your participation in the Friends Scheme. We will also use the contact information provided by participants for communication purposes. This may be in the form of newsletters or other communications.

We will process your personal information in accordance with the London Waterkeeper Privacy Policy and relevant data protection law. If you want to change your communication preferences with London Waterkeeper, you can do this by contacting London Waterkeeper using the information provided in section 9.

7. Holder Obligations

You must notify London Waterkeeper of any change to your contact details as soon as possible.

When acting in your capacity as a Friend of London Waterkeeper, you must act in the interests of London Waterkeeper, and in a way that is consistent with the objectives of the charity.

You must comply with the Friends Scheme Terms and Conditions, and the terms of any London Waterkeeper partners where in attendance of events invited to you as a Friend of London Waterkeeper.

You may not use for personal or commercial benefit any of London Waterkeeper’s trademarks, statements, logos, unless authorised by London Waterkeeper.

8. Enquiries and Complaints

London Waterkeeper will endeavour to respond to any enquiries or complaints in relation to the Friends Scheme as soon as possible, and no later than 14 working days. Where we are unable to provide a full response in relation to a matter within that timeframe (e.g. requires further investigation), we will provide a response acknowledging the correspondence whilst we continue to review the matter.
