Thames Water has agreed to meet our demand that it comply with the law and publish real-time sewer spill alerts. They say the data will be online by the end of 2022. This will be for all 468 overflows that have monitors. We will make sure they meet their deadline or start legal action.
However, until then the only way to find out if a sewer has discharged is by sending them an Environmental Information Request. We recommend that you do this as it is the most up to date information, though it can take up to 20 working days to hear back.
When it rains you can send them an email and they are legally obliged to tell you. Click a pin and then ‘More details’. Copy and paste the text and email it Thames Water.
